• I like math! My university didn’t have a journalism program, so I decided to major in something I found to be versatile: computational mathematics. I took coursework in statistics, economics, and computer science. You’d be surprised how useful a knowledge of math is in a newsroom: from audience analysis to data visualization, it pays to have someone who knows statistics.

  • I’m from Northern Virginia, AKA the suburbs of Washington, D.C.

I currently live in New York City, but I’m willing to go wherever cool jobs are to be found.

  • Gee, thank you for asking, so considerate of you. In my free time, I’m an avid reader of fantasy novels and whatever else happens to be laying around. I also love cooking gluten-free recipes, creative writing, and doing calligraphy (@clairewriteswords on Instagram).

  • Well, if you insist. I’m a professional calligrapher, I know morse code, I can whistle pretty excellently, I can code (more or less) in four different languages, and I used to do color guard in high school, so I can twirl a flag really well. True story.
