As part of our ideation process for launching vertical video at the Times, I pioneered and contributed to several ongoing series.

My colleague Karen and I pioneered a series of videos from The New York Times Book Review, working with editors to give concise book recommendations aimed at the “booktok” audience online. These were a runaway success, with many videos getting over a million views on TikTok, Instagram, and on-site.

Our “booktoks” eventually spun out into broader media recommendations for movies and video games.

As part of our 2024 campaign coverage, I created a series of policy-focused videos, directly comparing Trump and Harris on their platforms.

Another 2024 series I ideated and worked on were our fact-checks, often produced in response to breaking news or timely storylines. These also had a distinct visual brand and annotation style.

Throughout the weeks of Donald Trump’s criminal trial in Manhattan, my colleagues and I produced daily explainer videos from the courthouse. These were scripted, shot, and edited in under three hours, aiming to give viewers day-by-day takeaways from the trial.
